We are all back to school at our house and I have to say, I’m happy about it! We had a great summer but I am definitely enjoying the return to a routine.

My son was asked to decorate his lunch box and backpack so that he could recognize it for pick up. Initially, he showed no interest in personalizing anything, so I gladly took on the project of using leftover tape and stickers. Once he saw the possibilities, he asked to decorate the top of his lunch box and I have to say, I like his creation much better than mine! We can certainly spot his lunchbox a mile away.

When I was a wee one, there was a store in my town that specialized in paint-penning. That place was magical to me. My mother would take me there at the beginning of a school year and I could pick out an item- say, a pink plastic pencil box, for example. Then we would pay to have it paint-penned in perfect ‘bubble’ letters. My heart races just thinking about it. Really- it’s the simple things at that age, isn’t it!?
